We love being outside and as long as the weather is nice, we are spending all kinds of time outside! Today I want to share some quick reasons why spending time outside is good for both you and your kids!
Relieves your Stress- when you are outside in nature, it can be hard to think about all of the little things that need to be done inside. For me, I find that when I am feeling overwhelmed or something is not working right, I take a break, go for a walk outside and then come back inside and find that I am much more focused and productive!
Strengthens your Immune System- when we are out in nature, our immune system is constantly working as it is constantly being challenged compared to when you are inside in a more ‘sterile’ environment.
Builds a Physically Healthier Body- when outside, we tend to be much more active then when we are inside, either doing yard work/gardening or playing with the kids! This leads to us increasing our physical health! And this definitely applies to our kids! I mean, at least our girls cannot sit still when they are outside! Always running, jumping, swings, climbing!
Sunshine Exposure – the sun is used to make Vitamin D in our body. Vitamin D plays a crucial role in many body processes in keeping us healthy! The sun also plays a role in us getting healthy sleep and in our immune system function!
Gratefulness of Nature- when we are outside and see the true beauty of the world around us, it helps us realize all that we have to be grateful for!
So, take some time soon and spend some good quality time outside! Maybe set up a small garden to encourage you to go out at least once a day to do a little work in it or set up some play dates at the park with your kids to help you get outside more than what you have been!
